Tenders invited for management, operation, installation and maintenance of public lighting system in Kowloon and New Territories East

     The Highways Department (HyD) today (May 20) invited tenders for a four-year contract for the management, operation, installation and maintenance of the public lighting system in Kowloon and New Territories East (contract no. 01/HY/2010).  

      This contract, which will last from October 2010 to September 2014, will be supervised by the Lighting Division of the HyD. It covers the design, installation, management, operation and maintenance of the public lighting system in Kowloon and New Territories East.  The public lighting system generally consists of conventional road lighting, village lighting, gantry sign lighting, roadside directional sign lighting, traffic bollard lighting, footbridge lighting, subway lighting, covered walkway/ferry concourse lighting,   

      Within the designated contract area, there are about 52,800 lighting points, 5,300 traffic bollards, 770 illuminated gantry signs and roadside directional signs, 360 footbridges and subways (about a total of 14,000 lighting points), 38 covered walkways/ferry concourses and amenity areas (about a total of 100 lighting points).

      Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box located at the lift lobby on the lower ground floor of the Central Government Offices (East Wing), 20 Lower Albert Road, Hong Kong.  Submission of tenders will close at noon on July 2, 2010 (Friday).
