Railway Network
Hong Kong's railway system forms the backbone of the public transportation system and is essential to the city's continued economic, social and land development. Currently the railway system with a total length of 270 km is made up of 99 heavy rail stations, including the 35.2 km-long Airport Express connecting the urban areas to the Hong Kong International Airport and the AsiaWorld-Expo, as well as the 26 km-long Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong Express Rail Link connected with the national high speed rail network.
