Works supervisor of Highways Department tests positive for COVID-19

     The Highways Department (HyD) today (January 27) said that a works supervisor of the Lighting Division has tested positive for COVID-19. He is staying at a hospital for treatment.
      
      The works supervisor concerned worked at the site depot in Shau Kei Wan. He last performed duties on January 25. He underwent a compulsory COVID-19 test earlier as he lives in a building included in the list of specified premises for compulsory testing notice, and was notified yesterday (January 26) that he had tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.
      
      The staff concerned has no recent travel history. He wore surgical masks when performing duties, and his body temperature was normal when undergoing temperature screening during work.
      
      The HyD has arranged a thorough cleaning and sterilisation at his working area and the public utilities according to the guidelines of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP). All staff who might have been in contact with the officer concerned have been arranged to undergo a COVID-19 test..
      
      The HyD is highly concerned about the COVID-19 epidemic and will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP. Staff are reminded to pay attention to personal hygiene and to stay vigilant. They should seek medical advice immediately if feeling unwell.
