Latest development at Pak Tam Road in Sai Kung
A Government spokesman announced today (June 12) the condition of landslide happened at Pak Tam Road in Sai Kung last Wednesday (June 8) has been stabilized after the concerted effort in clearance works by the staff of Civil Engineering and Development Department and the Highways Department under the rain in the past several days. However, there are still many loose rocks and concrete fragments pending for clearance.
As the closure of Pak Tam Road would bring inconvenience to the residents, it is considered that the concerned section of road can be opened to small vehicles under restricted conditions. From today, the concerned section of road will be opened to small vehicles between 7am and 9am and, between 6pm and 8pm everyday.
As the clearance works of aforementioned slope is yet to be completed, and one-lane two-way traffic will be applied, the relevant government departments advise every road user to be vigilant and patient and drive slowly when passing the road. Motorists are also advised not to visit the concerned area if not necessary.
The Transport Department has already contacted the operator of New Territories Green Mini-bus Route No. 7 to provide temporary service between Sai Kung and Hoi Ha (passing Wong Shek Pier) during the aforesaid temporary opening periods.
The Tai Po District Office has been monitoring the situation closely, and liaising with other government departments proactively to provide residents with appropriate assistance.
