Our Projects

The Highways Department is responsible for implementing various transport infrastructure projects, enhancing and expanding the road network of Hong Kong to meet the growth and change of transport needs, as well as development requirements, while shouldering the mission of planning future railway development and overseeing the implementation of new railway projects to continue to develop a transportation system centred on public transport with railway as the backbone. We also proactively support the relevant policies on facilitating the commuting of citizens by implementing different types of walkability projects, including Universal Accessibility projects, Hillside Escalator Links projects, covered walkway projects and district facility projects; and support the relevant policy on mitigating noise impacts of public roads on neighbouring residents by implementing various Retrofitting of Noise Barrier Projects.
