Building For Future
To cope with traffic growth, the section of Fanling Highway between Tai Hang and Wo Hop Shek Interchange is being widened from dual three-lane carriageway to dual four-lane carriageway with standard hard shoulders. Works commenced in July 2013.
The Central Kowloon Route (CKR) will link Yau Ma Tei Interchange in West Kowloon with the Kowloon Bay and Kai Tak Development in East Kowloon so as to reduce the traffic volumes along the major east-west corridors, thus relieving the existing traffic congestion problem and coping with future traffic need. Upon commissioning of the CKR, it is estimated that the journey time between Yau Ma Tei and Kowloon Bay during peak hours would take around 5 minutes, saving about 25 minutes in comparison with the journey time without the CKR. The construction of the CKR commenced in end 2017.
